Each of the two types of floor sealers listed below has certain characteristics that we will examine. However, each manufacturer’s instructions vary, so always read them carefully before purchasing and using a product.

Generally, you can use any paver sealer on a permeable surface, but only some are suitable for a non-permeable surface such as concrete.

Porous, sawn natural stone can be prone to staining and pitting when grouting or paver sealers are applied. These problems can be very disappointing and expensive to resolve. We highly recommend that the best protection for porous pavers such as polished sandstone and granite is to pre-seal the paver before installation.

1. Exterior Tile Grouts: To apply grout for outdoor tiles, mix the contents of the bag with a little water and apply it to the grout lines with a grout trowel. Although it takes some practice and more time than applying grout for pavers with a brush, applying grout for outdoor tiles is easy once you know how to do it.

For optimal results, the joints should be as dry as possible and free of standing water when applying the paving mortar. You should clean the surfaces with a damp sponge within 30 minutes. Therefore we recommend that this job be done by at least two people. Float diagonally over the joints to avoid breaking the floor mortar.

A cost-effective option that usually offers several colors of grout for outdoor tiles to choose from. Because they provide a modern, smooth and elegant look, these grout lines are best suited to natural stone or porcelain with modern sawn edges. Wash moderately with a stream of water and avoid direct contact with the floor joints.

2. Cementous Based Slurry Paving Grouts:  With these pre-mixed paving mortars such as Flow point and Fugal-pave, you simply add water on site. Spread the resulting mortar into the joints and clean thoroughly after 30 minutes. Being a wet application, the mortar is very easily absorbed.

The advantage over single-component polymer mortars is that the mortar forms a slightly stronger bond and is suitable for both permeable and non-permeable substrates.

With a little practice, mortar joints can be applied quickly and easily. Here too, for reasons of speed, we recommend a minimum number of participants of two people.
The seams should last at least 10 years and withstand jet washing. However, the color options are limited and a slightly grainy look may not be suitable for all projects.
You should also make sure that you have a drain to remove excess mortar when applying paving mortar, as it cannot flow down the drain.
